Acid Reflux Symptoms and Overweight
The question I was asking myself was, "Is the reason for my Acid Reflux Symptoms that I'm a little over weight?".
I thought that was a fair question. After all, so I'm only about 30 or so pounds over weight. Maybe it's that I'm big boned and just a healthy guy. And, I played high school football years ago and I wouldn't dare say to myself. You're over weight, in fact you about a pound or two from being fat.
Now, that is scary but what was even scarier is the first night I had an attack with what I later found out was that was my beginning stages of acid reflux.
Let me tell ya,
I woke up in bed with a shilling sweat a sudden lost of breath. Now, it wasn't just the lost of breath that freighten me but something harsh was rushing up my throat and for the first time in my life and a quick pray to my creator asking for "one more chance" was sudden the only thing on my mind.
But like many others, as soon as the attack ended, which seem like all night. I was at it again. Eating late and suffering during the night. That was getting old and because of it. I'm sharing this article with you.
Obesity, being overweight and some of the foods associated with this are often the cause of acid reflux symptoms such as heartburn, regurgitation, chest pain and difficulty in swallowing. These symptoms can last anywhere from minutes, hours to days and months.
Acid reflux can also lead to a couple of other things like hoarseness, dental erosion and asthma as the acidic juices enter the throat, mouth and air passage ways.
To tell the truth acid reflux is often associated with people who are overweight or obese but can also occur in pregnant women and infants. The additional risk factors that often both contribute to obesity as well as acid reflux include eating foods that are fatty or chocolates, caffeine drinks or alcohol. Obesity and pregnancy may also lead to some of the stomach contents being pushed into the esophagus (throat) which can lead to acid reflux symptoms.
With all this said, one of the ways you can treat acid reflux and also lose weight is by following a special diet that eliminates foods that contribute to these symptoms, focusing on healthier foods and drinking plenty of water. It's funny when you think about it. Just like eating the wrong food will have a negative effect, eating the right food with have a positive effect. But who wants to eat the right or healthy food, right?
Exercise can also help provided you do not do in on a full stomach. But one of the simple things that I notice about myself. Losing weight and not eating late at night, guess what, No more Acid Reflux for me."
Now, I'm not a doctor so if you're taking some kind of medication don't stop on my behalf but what you may consider doing is your own research. Everyone's body is different and this is what worked for me. Without the friendly advice of my doctor (there's never a problem that my doc thinks a pill can't handle, smile, I hate the thought of pills).
I'm afraid of pills mostly because of the side effect they have and not knowing what those side effects are until they recommend another pill.
So, read on the subject before you do anything. Here's where I begin, I'm sure it can lead you in the right direction too. click here!!
